What's on for adults

Poetry Breakfast

Every second Thursday of the month from 9 - 10 am, we meet to share our favourite poems while enjoying coffee and croissants at Tea on the Square in Much Wenlock. There is a different theme each month. Bring your own favourites to share or just sit back and enjoy the poetry - everyone is welcome.

£7 per breakfast. No need to book - just turn up. Click here to join the facebook group for Poetry Breakfast.

Short Reading Courses

Approximately three or four times a year we hold a short reading course (duration 5 sessions). Each course has its own focus, such as short stories, a play, poetry or essays. There is an expectation that participants will read at home, in order to be able to contribute to the group discussion. Tea and biscuits are served.

£30 payable before each course. Numbers are limited to ten, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Random Reading Group

Our no-commitment reading group! Every now and again, we choose a book (not quite at random) and hold a one-off evening discussion about that book. The books are often new releases, but might equally be old classics. Participants often receive a discount on the price of the book.

£7 to include wine, nibbles and great conversation. No need to book - just turn up.

On Poetry Reading Group

A slow reading group, exploring the ideas and themes in Glyn Maxwell's wonderful book 'On Poetry'. The group is working through the book page by page and discussing the myriad of ideas held within. One week we might be discussing Aristotle, the next Joni Mitchell, but it all comes back to one central question - 'What is poetry?'

Fully subscribed - sorry!

Knitting and Poetry

Every third Thursday of the month from 7.30 to 9 pm, we meet round the table in the shop to drink wine, eat cheese and knit as Anna reads poetry (sometimes on the theme of knitting, sometimes not). All welcome - even non-knitters!

£7 to include wine and cheese. Pre-booking advisable.
