...is an award-winning writer of fiction, poetry and plays, whose subtle investigation into the complexities of identity have been
informed by her own life.
Jackie will be visiting at The Guild Hall, Much Wenlock on September 19th at 7.30pm to celebrate the publication
of her latest book, The Lamplighter: a radio and stage play and a
multi-layered poem which is a joureny into the heart of slavery.
Seats are £7.50 and there will be complimentary drinks and nibbles. Please book your place in advance if at all possible,
to avoid diasppointment.

Meeting quarterly on Friday evenings, the Poetry Workshop is an 'open group' which means it is possible for new people to attend
on each occasion, with no commitment required to attend all meetings. The next dates are:

- December 5th
Further dates may be arranged in view of the amount of interest. A joining fee of £5.00 towards the administrative costs
of Wenlock Books is made at the first attendance only. |

National Poet of Wales, Gillian Clarke, will be at the Edge Arts Centre on Friday October 3rd at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £7.50 (special deal for students at William Brookes) and are available from the Edge or from the bookshop.
Gillian has recently published a book of essays about her writing life: At the Source. Gillian will be talking about poetry, writing, living in Wales,
plate tectonics, language and much, much more. Gillian has been guest of honour at our last two Reader's retreats in Wales and she is inspiring
and passionate - this evening will be a real treat.

is June 2nd to June 6th 2009. Bookings need to be in by the end of the year.
Our next Readers' Retreat in west Wales will be held from February 25th to 28th 2009.
