Hygge Day

Wrap yourself up in a story.

To celebrate Civilised Saturday (the day following Black Friday) we're hosting a Hygge day: a day filled with cosiness, warmth and Christmas gift buying.

Hygge (pronounced HOO-GAH) is a Danish word that describes a feeling of cosiness and comfort from everyday activities. Hyggly activities could include taking time to enjoy a cup of coffee in front of the fire or inviting a friend over for cake.

We think Hygge is a fabulous idea and we can't wait to invite you into the shop for a cosy day of gift buying, storytelling sessions, pyjama and slipper wearing (yes really!) and freshly made coffee. In October, Caboodle chose us as their Bookshop of the Month and sent us an amazing hamper (huge thank you to National Book Tokens!) which we will be sharing from 12o'clock onward. Just like last year we'll also be offering a gift matching and gift wrapping service to help with your Christmas planning.

Our Christmas decorations will have just gone up so the shop will be even more sparkly and welcoming than usual.

11am - 12pm: Pyjama party Children's Book Club!
12:15pm: Storytelling session with Kate Innes, author of The Errant Hours. Kate has rewritten the tale of 'Ippikin' especially for our Hygge day! Book signing of The Errant Hours afterwards.
12:45pm - 5pm: Storytelling sessions in the second hand section for those who would like to be read to, and hot drinks and treats throughout the afternoon.
